Tour will begin at Eastern Market Metro Station Located at 701 Pennsylvania Ave. SE Washington, DC Eastern Market is a historic landmark in Washington, DC and resides in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The Market was established in 1837 and is currently the only open public market in Washington, DC. Visit Eastern Market on a Saturday or Sunday to enjoy a great flea market plus fresh food! Eastern Market Metro Station is located off of the Blue and Orange Metro Line.
In May of 2012 PEPCO, Washington, DC's Electricity provider decommissioned the Pepco Benning Road Power Plant. The Benning Road plant is a 77-acre facility boarded on the east by the Kenilworth neighborhood, commercial areas to the south, and on the west by the Anacostia River (include picture).
